How to prevent a car accident.
My friend Steffan formerly taught driving instruction at the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Depot in Regina.
One day, he took me through the driving course at Depot. I learned two things: how to turn a big powerful V-8 powered Ford Crown Victoria police interceptor without slowing down, and how to avoid accidents.
The key to avoiding accidents, according to Steffan, is to look further ahead.
Many drivers are only looking as far as the vehicle in front of them. Or worse, they're looking at their phones.
To prevent accidents, look further ahead so you can anticipate situations and have more time to take corrective actions.
The same applies in business: look further ahead. If you're running your business and making decisions based on last month's financial statements, you're not looking ahead. You're looking behind.
